All-Inclusive Travel Insurance Plans for Snowbirds and Seniors

Get travel medical, trip cancellation / interruption and baggage insurance coverage - all in one policy

Travel insurance coverage is generally available for the following three types of losses:

  • Medical Insurance - covers your emergency health and medical expenses
  • Trip Cancellation / Interruption Insurance - covers your non-refundable travel expenses (i.e. airfare, cruises, tours, hotels, vacation rentals)
  • Baggage Insurance - covers your personal belongings

While you can choose to purchase individual insurance policies for each type of loss separately, it often makes sense to purchase what is commonly referred to as an all-inclusive travel insurance policy, which includes coverage for all three types of losses in a single policy.

Depending on your personal travel plans, all-inclusive travel insurance plans can offer significant cost savings and peace of mind in knowing that you will be protected for all three types of loss.

Our agents can help you determine if an all-inclusive travel insurance policy makes sense for you based on your individual needs and travel habits. Our all-inclusive plans are also available for both Single-Trip and Annual Multi-Trip policies.

What do All-Inclusive Travel Insurance Plans Cover?

Travel Medical Insurance Coverage

Regardless of where you're travelling, medical costs will always be much higher than what your provincial health plan will cover.

For example, it will cost you about $10,000 per day for hospitalization in the US, and your provincial health plan will only reimburse you for about $100 of that total. Without travel insurance, you will be responsible for the difference.

The medical portion of an all-inclusive travel insurance plan will cover you for medical costs you incur due to a medical emergency. Keep in mind that this coverage is for medical emergencies only, not general health issues. Depending on your situation, the following fees may be reimbursed:

  • Medical care
  • Hospitalization
  • Diagnostic services (e.g., lab tests)
  • Medical prescriptions
  • Private nurse
  • Paramedic care
  • Emergency dental care
  • Medical appliances (e.g., casts, crutches, body braces, wheelchairs)
  • Emergency transportation
  • Transportation to the bedside of another person
  • Repatriation of remains
  • Dependent care expenses
  • Accessory fees billed by a hospital (e.g., television, internet, telephone)
  • Travel companion and domestic animal return
  • Vehicle return

Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance Coverage

The cancellation and interruption portion of your all-inclusive travel insurance plan allows you to cancel or interrupt your trip if an unfortunate event occurs, and be reimbursed for certain non-refundable expenses such as airfare, cruises, hotels, tours and vacation rentals.

You'll need to know the total value of your travel expenses when you speak to one of our agents, as this will establish the amount of your trip cancellation and interruption insurance coverage and your premiums.

Examples of risks covered by trip interruption and cancellation insurance can include:

  • Illness, injury, death of a travel companion or family member
  • Transport delay (weather, mechanical problem)
  • Loss or theft of passport
  • Involuntary cancellation
  • Unfavourable weather or natural disaster
  • Government of Canada travel advisory to avoid a region you had planned to travel to
  • Your residence or that of your travel companion has become uninhabitable
  • Loss of employment

Baggage Insurance Coverage

Theft or loss of property is never pleasant, but the situation can be even worse when travelling. By purchasing all-inclusive insurance, you can obtain coverage of your luggage and personal effects.

In addition to covering loss, theft, and damage to your luggage, this protection also covers personal currency, luggage delays, and replacement fees for documents such as your passport.

It’s important to be aware that there are always coverage amount limits for baggage insurance, so make sure you read your policy carefully to understand your coverage limits or speak to one of our agents to clarify this coverage for you.
